Breaking the ICE Series

In our Breaking the ICE Series classes, students will learn & practice the core foundation of pole dancing while being introduced to movement that will help you open up and trust your body. Each level is progressive with a different focus, while building on various pole dancing elements including sensual movement, pole tricks, spin pole, incorporating shoes, lap dance technique, movement concepts & theory, and much more.

All Breaking the ICE series classes are women only.

LEVEL 1
Beginner

Level 1

(Beginner)

Class Description

Welcome to the beginning of a great experience, unlike any other workout you have done. Our 90 -minute Level 1 class is an 8-week progressive series that begins with a sensually enhanced, strength & stretch focused warm up that will work your core and condition your body. Each week of this 8-week series, the warm up will vary to ensure you are challenged and seeing results.

After the warm up you will spend a portion of class learning foundation pole tricks including basic climbs and inversions! That’s right, you will get a chance to climb the pole and go upside down!

We finish class by taking everything you learn and work into a progressive routine that brings the sensual movement as well as the pole tricks together.

Level 1 is a prerequisite for other Breaking the ICE Level classes and supplemental classes offered at Chicago Academy of Pole & Dance.

If you have previous pole experience, please call the studio to discuss appropriate level placement.

Assignments

You will eventually need shorts for this class that can be purchased at the studio. Your teacher will inform you which week these will be required.

Beginner/Intermediate

Breaking the ICE II

Class Description

In this 8-week series students will learn and practice the core foundations of pole dancing while incorporating the sensuality of pole dancing into class. You’ll expand on basic movement by incorporating movement accents, variations of basic movement, and begin to open up and trust your body even more with various strip techniques included throughout the 8 weeks. This 1.5 hour class begins with a stretch and strength focused warm-up that will work your core and condition your body. Each week the warm-up will vary to ensure you are challenged and seeing results. After the warm-up you will spend a portion of class learning pole tricks, such as the Boomerang, Attitude Spin, and explore basic pole combinations while reinforcing basic climbing & inversions. Each week you will learn a new pole trick which you will practice and build on week to week as the series progresses. Pole Exercises to help reinforce previously learned pole tricks are introduced. After the warm-up and pole tricks, you will expand on your choreographed routine by adding accents, beginning to choose your own music, and incorporating strips that will help create and explore more fluid movement. Students may take the Breaking the ICE series multiple times if they choose, to ensure that they are comfortable with the practice before moving forward.

Pre-Requisites

Breaking the ICE I is a prerequisite for this class and other pole and movement classes at Chicago Academy of Pole & Dance. If you have previous pole experience, call the studio to discuss appropriate placement for your skill level.

Breaking the ICE I or previous pole/dance experience required.
Must be able to invert and climb.

We do NOT promote nudity at Chicago Academy of Pole & Dance. Nothing further than basic under garments (ex. bra, sports-bra, panties, boy shorts, booty shorts, g-string, etc.) are to be revealed in this or any other class.

All strips included in this class can be layered and students can strip to what they are comfortable wearing (2 tank tops, long pants over shorts, t-shirt over tank top, etc.).

Week 7 – Button Up Shirt or Zip Up Hoodie Strip (Routine Only)
Week 8 – All or Nothing (Routine Only)

LEVEL 3
Intermediate

Breaking the ICE II – The Flip Side

Class Description

In this 8-week series students will continue to enhance the core foundations of pole dancing while incorporating additional elements of sensuality into class. You’ll expand further on movement flow while being introduced to more complex movement variations. This warm-up will work your core and condition your body through increasing the duration and intensity of what you have been working from our previous levels. Each week the warm-up will vary to ensure you are challenged and seeing results. After the warm-up you will spend a portion of class being introduced to various pole exercises to help the flow and uniqueness of the pole tricks you have learned in previous levels. We will begin to incorporate SHOES into our pole & dance time (Yes those 6 inch shoes you have been seeing in the studio, you will finally start using in class). We will teach you to balance, walk, and find your own strut!

Each week you will learn a new pole trick which you will practice and build on week to week as the series progresses including basic spinning combinations, inversions such as the caterpillar, outside leg hang and more. After the warm-up and pole tricks, you will expand on your choreographed routine by adding the LAPDANCE! This element is a great way to enhance your new found expression and language of your body. You will understand the concept of the LAPDANCE chair and how we incorporate this into our classes. The last piece to understanding how it all works and putting it together.

Pre-Requisites

Completion of Breaking the ICE I (Level 1) & Breaking the ICE II (Level 2) or 4 months + previous pole experience.

Requirements for class – SHOES (sold at the studio and special orders can be placed through Chicago Academy of Pole & Dance)

Various Strip may be included in this class from previous level.
